Dad's Restaurant of Niantic: Reviews & Ratings
The service is excellent—very friendly and fast. The atmosphere is welcoming, and everything is super clean. The food was absolutely delicious and fresh! The hot lobster roll and chicken sandwich are to die for, and their ice cream is a must-try. I’ll definitely be coming back!
We had lunch at renovated dad’s restaurant . They did a good job remodeling it, it looks very nice. Food was very good. Lobster roll and lobster salad was delicious. The only thing that it took 20 -25 minutes for food to be ready. Other than that, definitely recommend it!! Great food , good service and great spot!! They have outdoor seating as well!!
I’m so excited to be writing this review—Dad’s is back, and better than ever! For years, I looked forward to its seasonal opening because it meant one thing: spring had officially arrived in New England. It used to be one of my favorite spots, though I’ll admit, a couple of years ago it lost some of its charm. But now? It’s under new ownership, and let me tell you—they’ve brought the magic back. The place has been updated and renovated, and it’s clear the new owners put a ton of love and effort into restoring Dad’s to its former glory. While it may look a little different (and a tad less nostalgic), they held onto the touches that made Dad’s feel special in the first place. The food I fell in love with is back, and everything we ordered was delicious. The portion sizes felt just right to me—though my husband was eyeing a second helping! Prices are a bit lower now, which makes the smaller portions feel fair. I can’t wait to spend sunny afternoons out on the patio, listening to the water and enjoying great food in good company. If it’s been a while since you’ve visited Dad’s, this is your sign to go back. With the new ownership, I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised. Welcome back, Dad’s!
Standard seafood fare. The lobster roll sandwich seem a little small for the price, but it tasted fantastic. Service was excellent and fast. The entire resturant was very clean and open air. The view is also quit nice and you get to watch the Amtrak pass by. Recommend you at least check it out.
An update for this wonderful restaurant in Summer 2025! Restaurant has been remodeled since my last visit about two years ago. WOW! Place is amazing! Clean, bright and Air conditioned!!!! Plenty of Indoor and outdoor seating. Service during our week day visit was really fantastic. We had the Whole Clam Seafood platter - a great assortment, served hot and fresh! We also had the hot Lobster Roll and I don't want to set up false expectations but it was huge and so delicious! The best one I've ever had!Prices are typically for a summer, tourist spot. Ice cream and alcohol also available!
I’ve been coming to Dad’s since I was a kid, and over the years, I’ve seen it go through its ups and downs. For a while, it felt like the quality had slipped—but I’m happy to say those days are behind it. Under new ownership, the restaurant has gone through some much-needed renovations, and it’s clear that a lot of care and effort have gone into bringing the place back to life. While it doesn’t have quite the same nostalgic feel as before, the food quality has taken a major step up. Everything I’ve had recently has been fresh, well-prepared, and flavorful. The portions are on the smaller side, but the prices are fair, which keeps things balanced. It’s become a reliable spot again—one I’m genuinely happy to support. It’s not just a comeback—it’s a whole new chapter for Dad’s, and it’s well worth checking out if you haven’t been in a while. I love it
A+ food and service. Stopped by for an early lunch and was not disappointed. Menu was extensive with many great options. We settled on shrimp tacos, a grilled chicken sandwich and fries. The three shrimp tacos were excellent. Big shrimp with a great topping. The chicken sandwich came with two large pieces of chicken on a fresh roll with lettuce and tomato and a pickle and slaw on the side. Just terrific. Overall a terrific experience. We will definitely come back.
Food is good, plentiful, and reasonably priced. Somewhat limited menu, but hotdogs and burgers available for those who don't like seafood. Great seats inside and out. Girls at the front counter are friendly and quick.
